Placings at Galway and Listowel served notice that Hees Dynamite s turn was just around the corner and so it arrived this afternoon in Greenmount Park's sixth event, the Race Displays Handicap Hurdle (DIV I).
Sean Flanagan donned the Cheltenham Festival winning silks of John Earls on the well-supported market-leader (4s from 5s) and the Ocovango gelding was too strong for his rivals from the back of the last. It's Time Again and Garcon Doux did best of the rest, chasing home at distances of a length and three parts and half a length.
Another winner for the local in-form yard of Eric McNamara prompted the master of Beechmount Stables Rathkeale to say: "His last few runs had been solid but has always found one or two too good for him. I'm delighted he got his head in front as I'm friends with John Earls for years.
"The plan was to stay wide and on the better ground as he genuinely likes good ground. While he's fit and well we'll find something similar soon although if the ground goes, we'll let him off."
Niall Moore, rider of Quarry Lady trained by John M.Burke, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung badly right at the top of the hill.
The Raceday Stewards reviewed an incident shortly after the start involving Hees Dynamite, ridden by S.W. Flanagan, and Divilabother ridden by C.P. Millar, where it appeared Divilabother clipped Hees Dynamite's heel. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the matter, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted.
