Long denies Katla a famous success Dairy farmer John Grogan was denied a famous success by the narrowest of margins as his nicely-supported Katla (Billy Lee up) went under by the minimum margin to joint favourite Longhunter in the Listed Blenheim Stakes at the Curragh. Katla led about a furlong and a half down but Declan McDonogh on Longhunter wasn't to be denied and he forced the winning Halling colt (flicked his tail when hit) up near the finish to prevail. There was a two and a half length gap back to the third placed Emperor Hadrian. Successful trainer Kevin Prendergast said: "He is a good genuine little horse. The ease in the ground was a help and he battled well. The ease in the ground should also help the horse in the last, Tashqeel."
