Liar cosy winner on chase debut Pretty Little Liar made a winning start over fences at Thurles this afternoon when running out a cosy winner of the opening beginners chase on the card. The David Dunne-trained mare went to post 3/1 favourite on her chasing bow having been a wide margin winner of a handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse last month. Having gone up to a mark of 101 over timber she just squeezed into this two-mile-two contest for horses rated 102 or less over hurdles. Jordan Gainford gave her a confident ride as she tracked the leaders before jumping to the front three from home. The daughter of Excellent Art only had to be shaken up on the run-in to secure a three-and-a-quarter length win over Shes Some Doll. Dunne said:- “The way she was jumping at home I knew she would really take to them.   “I knew she’d be better over fences and with the mares allowance and Jordan’s 3lb, I thought she wouldn’t be beaten.   “That will probably be her last run for the season as she’s ground dependent but I’ve said that three or four times now!   “To be honest I’m in two minds whether to run her over fences again as there are not many mares that have won on the Flat and over hurdles and fences. She’s probably a valuable broodmare so we’ll have to think of her as well.” (Quotes by Alan Magee)
