Levins' filly has bookmakers on the Run The Johnny Levins trained Palavicini Run was a costly winner for bookmakers in the Jockeys Emergency Fund Handicap at the Curragh today when justifying 5/4 favouritism to gain a maiden win, under jockey Ronan Whelan. Palavicini Run was initially a 10/1 shot early this morning and while five non-runners reduced that price by between 40-50% with Rule 4 deductions, the daughter of Palavicini was still a costly loser for layers, as her price eventually tumbled to 5/4 favourite at the off. In the race, Whelan nursed the winner to the front with a furlong to race and the pair then stayed on well for a two and a quarter lengths win over Jaguar Paw. Following the race Levins stated “I have her about three months but she’s been very keen and I’ve been dropping her back in trip to try and get her to settle. Maybe when she’s ready to step up in trip we’ll see her at her best. “She’s a lovely mover who is better on better ground, and will probably run on the all-weather.” By Tom Weekes, quotes from Alan Magee
