Last of eleven on his debut at Cork in September, Lesson Learned (17/2) clearly was a lot better for that education as Gavin Ryan’s mount landed the Irish Stallion Farms EBF (C & G) Maiden on his second start.

The son of No Nay Never led early before being headed by the disappointing 11/10 favourite Dark Note (weakened to finish 11th) after three furlongs. The winner was narrowly back in front over a furlong out and kept on well to repel the challenge of Together Aclaim (7/1) by half a length.

The Leonard Green-owned juvenile cost 90,000 guineas as a yearling and is from the family of high-class miler Landseer.

Winning trainer Donnacha O'Brien said: "We thought he was a decent horse and the ground was too soft for him the first day in Cork so we left him off and said we’d bring him back for here and it worked.

“He’s very tough and tries very hard. What his level is I’m not sure. We’d hope he could be a Stakes horse.

“He handles this surface and we might run him again.”
