Legatissimo in Polly reckoning Legatissimo could tackle her elders in Sunday's Sea The Stars Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh. The David Wachman-trained filly has made giant strides this season, winning a Listed race at Gowran in April before going on to Classic glory at Newmarket in the 1000 Guineas. She came up just short when stepped up to a mile and a half at Epsom for the Oaks, looking all over the winner before being worn down close home by 50-1 chance Qualify. If she runs this weekend it will be over the intermediate trip of 10 furlongs. She will need to be right at her best, though, as there are some battle-hardened fillies likely to be in opposition. James Fanshawe's Ribbons is a Group One winner in France and made a pleasing comeback at York in the Middleton Stakes. She was third that day behind Ralph Beckett's Secret Gesture and the pair could meet again. Rizeena, back to form at Ascot last week, remains engaged for Clive Brittain, while David Simcock may also send over his Champions Day winner Madame Chiang. Dermot Weld's unbeaten Brooch would face by far her stiffest test to date if taking up her entry, while Aidan O'Brien has left in Diamondsandrubies, fourth in the Oaks after meeting trouble in running. There was one supplementary entry, the Ed Walker-trained Mutatis Mutandis. John Hammond's Pollyana, Jim Bolger's pair of Pleascach and Stellar Glow and Kevin Prendergast's Tamadhor complete the list of 12.
