The 3/1 favourite Law Ella made a winning start over fences in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Beginners Chase for Gavin Cromwell and Keith Donoghue.

The bumper and hurdles winner tracked the leaders and took over early in the home straight on the long approach to the final fence. The daughter of Yeats, fitted with a tongue-tie for the first time, safely negotiated that final obstacle and went away to beat Natural Look by six lengths in the colours of T P Ward.

"She was good and I'm delighted with that," said Cromwell.

"She has plenty size and scope but we didn't get to give her a jump on grass until Tuesday. She had plenty schooling done on the all-weather and was good and quick today.

"She had blacktype from her Aintree bumper run and I thought she was an obvious one to win her maiden hurdle quickly but it didn't just happen for her although hopefully now she can make into a nicer chaser."
