Landenstown gets overdue win Landenstown Lady gained a deserved success when claiming the concluding maiden hurdle at Clonmel. Harry Kelly's charge was an unlucky runner-up at Down Royal last Friday when her rider lost his irons two from home. There was no drama this evening as Sean Flanagan produced his mount to challenge front-runner Decade Player at the second last. The 7/4 favourite (from 6/4) travelled well to a narrow lead at the final flight and quickened up in style on the run-in for a three-length success. "She's a good mare. She fractured her leg at Punchestown last year and was very unlucky at Down Royal last time," said Kelly "The plan is to go back to Down Royal for the grade two mares hurdle there in November. "I have to thank my brother Jimmy who did a lot of hard work to get her back." The race was confined to jockeys who had not ridden ten winners in the previous year. (On course reporting by Alan Magee)
