Kid the best of the Veterans The Paparrazi Kid came out on top in the feature at Wexford this afternoon, the Arctic Tack Stud Veterans Handicap Chase. The Willie Mullins trained ten-year-old last tasted success when winning a Grade 2 at Limerick in December of 2013. He since finished second in the Galway Plate of 2015, while he was also a good fourth in the Kerry National in the same year. Returning from well over a year off the track he unseated at Leopardstown on his last start, and he was sent off at 8/1 today with Katie O'Farrell in the saddle. Settled towards rear he made progress from the third last, and improved into third on the run to two out. He was ridden after that fence and was on terms at the next, staying on best on the run-in, holding off the late surge of Lisclogher Lad by a neck. The runner-up was returned at 13/2 (16's this morning and from 8's on-course) under Stephen Gray for trainer Shane Walsh. Willie Mullins was also responsible for the third horse home, and that was the 7/2 favourite The Crafty Butcher. He finished another two lengths back under Brian Hayes. Katie O'Farrell said of the Byerley Racing Syndicate owned victor: "He wasn't loving the ground but he really got rolling down the hill before the straight. I was a bit lucky at the second last but he has plenty of experience and looked after me." Additional reporting by Alan Magee
