The www.thetote.com Handicap Hurdle was a six the field contest but one of the prominent ones in the betting, Credit Box (7/1) ran out an easy nineteen length winner from Lady Olwyn at Ballinrobe.

Twice a winner at Cork around Christmas 2006 on Dancing Tornado, amateur rider Alan Keane (his third winner on the racecourse proper) was aboard Credit Box for his father, Conna, County Cork-based trainer Maurice. Alan's mother Bernadette owns Credit Box and to emphasise the family element to the victory, Maurice also bred the Witness Box eight-year-old.

A bit unfortunate when beaten at Listowel on the opening day of the Festival, Credit Box did it in great style here, taking over down the back before asserting from the second last.

Twenty eight year old Alan Keane said: "She ran a stormer in Listowel and when she was in good form we said we'd bring her out again even though she'd prefer nicer ground.

"We let her bowl away today rather than come late and that seemed to work.

"She's been placed loads of times." (EM)
