Emeric justified strong support in the concluding ten furlong handicap when running out a convincing winner in the driving rain, giving Colin Keane a double on the card at Dundalk tonight.

The Paul Flynn-trained went to post a 6/4 shot, having been 5/2 this morning, and could be called the winner some way from home.

He travelled well to lead a furlong-and-a-half from home and galloped on strongly in the closing stages to post a two-and-a-half length win over Dark Street

The winner had been runner-up on his last outing at the venue in December.

Flynn said: "I wasn't surprised by that but he is just a work in progress.

"When I went to buy him a year ago, I said this is a real smart horse. He just wasn't right and never ran the way I said he'd run.

"He's just a different horse now.

"Worse case scenario, I should be well enough handicapped to come back here next winter. Ideally, we will go hurdling."
