KELLY STILL CRITICAL

Kieran Kelly is still ´critically ill´ in Beaumont Hospital after sustaining severe head injuries in a fall at Kilbeggan on Friday evening.

Turf Club doctor Walter Halley gave the update at the Curragh this afternoon, and confirmed that the Kildare rider is still on a life support machine.

The incident happened at the fifth last fence in the Joe Cooney Memorial Handicap Chase where Kelly´s mount Balmy Native fell and the Dessie Hughes-trained gelding appeared to roll on top of him.

Kelly is based with Hughes on the Curragh, and the pair enjoyed their biggest win to-date with Hardy Eustace in the Royal & SunAlliance Novices´ Hurdle at Cheltenham in March.
