Joseph O'Brien completes Dundalk double Joseph O'Brien completed a Dundalk double today, as the trainer's 80-rated Boyne River landed the View Restaurant Dundalk Apprentice Maiden under jockey Mikey Sheehy. Having her fifth start, the daughter of Kingman justified 6/4 favouritism when proving three parts of a length too good for 66/1 chance Craft Irish, with five lengths to third-placed Guiliana. O'Brien was earlier successful with Hadman, which was Dylan Browne McMonagle's landmark 95th winner and his last as a claimer, and following Boyne River's success, the trainer's assistant Brendan Powell reported “she stayed the trip well and I think she'll get further. “She had a few niggles last year and only got the one run but on her best placed form she was good enough to win that. “Joseph will take his time with her now and try and get her some black-type, she has a lovely pedigree and is going to be a nice broodmare in time. “I'd say she'll sharpen up a lot from that having only had the one run last year. Onwards and upwards.” Quotes from Gary Carson
