After disappointing on his last start Johann Bach bounced back to form as he took the Golf Membership At Gowran Park Apprentice Handicap under Dylan Hogan for Patrick Harney.
Second to Art Scene at Cork in June the son of Oratorio ran no sort of race when finishing last of fifteen at Fairyhouse on his most recent outing.
He was examined the Turf Club Vet after that run and was found to be clinically abnormal post-race.
Sent off a 9/1 chance this evening he led in the early stages before settling behind the leaders.
He was pushed along to challenge from two furlongs out and got to the front inside the final furlong, keeping on well to win by two and a half lengths. Udogo (9/2) finished second under Ana O'Brien for her father Aidan while the 7/2 favourite Rockview Emperor was a further length and three parts back in third under Gary Phillips for Noel Dooly.
Dylan Hogan who is twenty and from Clare was recording his fifth success aboard the six-year-old gelding.
Patrick Harney said afterwards: "He was working well at home. Dylan rode him in his last piece of work, and I said I'd give him his chance.
"He was wrong the last day but before that at Cork he ran well from a wide draw. He's won three now and is a real flag bearer for us. He wants good ground but not any extremes.
"I've three in training at the moment in Rhode, Co. Offaly and hopefully we can build it up."
STEWARDS REPORTS
The Stewards enquired into an incident in the straight involving Shukhov ridden by D.W. O'Connor, Elusive Leona ridden by C.J. McGovern and Sovereign Princess ridden by O.J. Orr. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned, in the presence of J.F.Levins and B.R.Hamilton who accompanied their riders in the Stewards room. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that Oisin Orr was in breach of Rule 214, in that he rode carelessly and having considered his record, suspended him for two race days.
R. Coakley, rider of Excelli trained by Ms. Maria Richert, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount emptied quickly and was eased inside the final furlong.
