Jockey Carroll bags Sligo hat-trick Jockey Gary Carroll bagged a hat-trick at Sligo today as he steered Kodiqueen to win the countysligoraces.com Handicap for trainer Joe Murphy. The daughter of Kodiac raced with the pace throughout and in the straight went clear of her 13 rivals before scoring an easy four and three parts of a length win over slow-starting 11/4 favoruite Trueba. “It was a three-year-old only race and they are hard to find. She impressed me and she won it well,” said trainer Murphy. “It wasn't a great race in my opinion but she won it well and she'll probably stick to handicaps. “With fillies you have to be very delicate with them, you can't push them - they have to come. When you leave them they'll do it and they'll do it again. “She's a well-bred filly as she's out of a Group 3 winning Dubawi mare. She'll be a nice filly for the paddocks eventually. “It's very important to win as a three-year-old for their residual value at breeding. Four-year-old is not accepted anymore for some reason. “This is the first one we've had for the owners (Ballylinch Stud) so please God it may continue We have one other one for them.” Jockey Carroll earlier combined with trainer Mick Mulvany on winners Grove Hill and In From The Cold.
