Jock wins at Naas again Oor Jock is now won two from four at Naas after his win under Colin Keane in the Montane Developments Supporting Console Handicap. Half an hour earlier, Keane, fresh from his 100th success at Roscommon on Monday evening, may have been anticipating a win on odds-on shot Bilderberg, but that wasn't to be. However 10/1 chance Oor Jock, trained by Ado McGuinness, travelled through the six furlongs like a horse that had been sent off considerably shorter in the betting. Given the fact that it was a handicap, it was always likely that he wouldn't win as easily as it once looked, and Count Of Carabass threw down a strong challenge to Oor Jock in the closing stages. The McGuinness runner held on by a head. There was a length and a quarter to Chillie Billie in third and they left the rest four and a quarter lengths and more behind. Keane commented: "He travelled very easy and he just did enough when he got there." The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Pearl Opera (GB), trained by C. Moore, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal. Samples were taken for analysis. L.F. Roche, rider of Pearl Opera (GB), trained by C. Moore, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount in his opinion needs a longer trip. The Stewards fined C. Moore, trainer, €350 for failing to present a passport in respect of Pearl Opera (GB) when requested to do so in accordance with the provisions of rule 90. (GC & EM)
