Jackson Lamb quickened away in style to run out an easy winner of the concluding bumper at Downpatrick this afternoon for trainer John McConnell.

Alex Harvey made the running on the El Salvador gelding and the 5/2 shot was sent for home under two furlongs from home.

He soon asserted and could afford to ease down in the closing stages to post a 16 length win over 33/1 shot Augusta George

The winner had been runner-up on his debut at Roscommon last August before finishing down the field at Cheltenham towards the end of October.

Harvey said: "A lovely run on debut in Roscommon about a year ago and the occasion in Cheltenham probably got to him.

"Hood was on today, settled away in front, quickened smartly and I was shocked to see what the distance was between me and the second horse crossing the line.

"Plenty in the tank there, he's a horse with plenty of ability and he seems to be going the right way now.

"He has just taken a while at home to settle into things and I was able to lead and be on my own in front and that seemed to let him switch off. He did it well."

Jackson Lamb is the main character in the Apple TV show Slow Horses.
