Binge Worthy relished being waited with as he swept through to claim the Albert Bartlett Triple Crown Series Qualifier Handicap Hurdle over an extended 2m3f at Punchestown.
The handicap debutant was produced between horses on the run-in by Jack Kennedy and, once he grabbed the initiative, the race was over.
He soon powered two-and-three-quarter-lengths clear at 17/2. Billy Lee Swagger the 9/2 favourite, had to settle for the runner-up berth. Each-way backers drew a dividend from Away To Milan (22/1) and Gabriel Ranger (9/1) in third and fourth respectively.
Gordon Elliott said: “I’m a little bit surprised, but the horses are flying.
“He kept going well and we’ll find something similar for him.”
This brought up a treble for Kennedy and Elliott after earlier graded successes with Stellar Story (G2 Florida Pearl) and Brighterdaysahead (G1 Morgiana).
