Impeachd gets the verdict by a head The 13/8 favourite Impeachd Alexander won the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden in the hands of Shane Foley. A little slowly away on debut when fifth over course and distance last month, the daughter of Starspangledbanner was out smartly this time and got an easy time of it up front. Might And Mercy (12/1) threw down a strong challenge racing to the final furlong and led narrowly 150 yards out, but the Jessica Harrington-trained winner knuckled down well to wrest back the spoils by a head. Timiyra (16/5) ran a pleasing race on debut to finish another two lengths away in third. Out of a half-sister to Dandy Man, the winner is entered in a Group Two at the Curragh on Irish Derby weekend, as is the runner-up. Foley said afterwards: "She was quite green here on her debut when she missed the kick, so I got her in amongst them and taught her something. "She was in a different category today, well switched on - maybe even a bit too much in my hands. "We were headed in the closing stages so she had to be tough. The ground is quite dead, which probably just played against her a bit, but it's nice to get a bracket with her. "She could even come back in trip in time when she does learn but I'll leave that up to connections." Quotes from Thomas Weekes
