Ricky Doyle showed ice-cool nerve aboard well-backed favourite Geraldines Lass in the Visit Tipperary Racecourse Handicap as the chestnut daughter of Titus Livius won her second race in four days.
Hiked up 9Ibs for a convincing success at Navan on Saturday and running with a mandatory 5Ib penalty here, 10Ib claimer Doyle waited as long as he dared on Geraldines Lass here as he registered a third success in the plate to see his claim reduced to 7Ib. He waited for a split as things got serious and only gave his mount the minimum of persuasion to beat Lechevalier Choisi by a neck.
Willie McCreery trains Geraldines Lass for his wife Amanda and he said: "He (Doyle) had to force his way out a bit. He did well as she missed the kick.
"The filly is improving and I'm delighted with her. There is nothing for her for a month now so she'll get a break. There isn't much in the spring for fillies in Ireland."
The result stood after a steward's enquiry.
