Ice Cold In Alex (11/4 joint-favourite) has been a regular on the Irish handicapping scene for several years and the eight-year-old landed his sixth career success (four of them at the Curragh)in the Killashee Handicap.

Ridden patiently as usual, the winner made progress between horses approaching the final furlong and headed King Of Bavaria in the closing stages to score by a length and three quarters.

It was an eleventh winner of the season for Jamie Powell.

Winning trainer Ken Condon, “Jamie gave him a lovely ride. He spoke to Niall and Joey who know him very well and he’s a horse that loves fast ground up the Curragh.

“He doesn’t win too many but is always very consistent. He was in the Cambridgeshire but I felt this would suit him better.

“He’s a grand horse and leads the two-year-olds and enjoys life. He’s eight years old and is very sound.

“He’ll be entered in the Sovereign Path on Champions Weekend and was third to Current Option in it a few years ago. He’ll be finished when the ground changes and we’ll mind him for next year.”
