Unseated off So I Told You pre-race, Hugh Horgan held on to the Gleneagles filly well, before the fifth event at Gowran. The 7Ib apprentice did well during the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Race too, as he got things right from the front.
Formerly with Richard Hughes (a winner at Nottingham) when she raced for her breeders, Flaxman Stables Ireland Ltd, So I Told You here took her score to three wins from four outings since joining Joseph O’Brien.
On the back of a down the field effort at Royal Ascot last time, the successful four-year-old, now owned by the Annus Mirabilis Syndicate, edged a little to her left when strongly pressed by Alazenya at the business end.
However she asserted well close home for a length victory.
Stable representative Brendan Powell said:- “It was a tough genuine performance from her.
“Looking at her in England she didn't look the most resolute as she won second time over there but then went off a bit.
“She won twice at Sligo and Joseph fancied her at Ascot but she was drawn on the wrong side and faded out of it.
“She'd freshened up and I think the 7lb made a difference today, Hugh has given her a lovely ride. He said they came to him but she put her head down and she's tried. She stayed on the whole way.
“You'd be very disappointed if she didn't get some black-type now after that and she deserves to go for it.”
The Stewards requested a report from Joseph Patrick O'Brien, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of So I Told You, placed first, as compared with its most recent run. Brendan Powell, Authorised Representative for the trainer concerned stated that that ground at Ascot last time out was a little chewed up and she raced on the wrong side and the better ground today coupled with a small field in which she was able to dictate the pace had helped to bring about the apparent improvement in form. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the explanation given.
