Horgan earns plaudits for ride on Trishuli River Hugh Horgan weaved a passage through on first-reserve Trishuli River to land the apprentice handicap in Dundalk. The 14/1 shot made headway between horses a furlong down and finished well when she hit the front over a 100 yards out. She beat Feature This (5/1) by a head with Indiana Grey (16/1) a length and a-quarter away in third. Trainer Shane Crawley said: "This lad (Horgan) can ride, he is very strong in a finish too. When you weigh out with him, you have confidence in him. He knows what he is about and he can talk through a race and he has a plan going out. He gives a trainer great confidence, I think. "She had a good run over seven two runs back and we had a bad draw the last day. The draw is crucial around here. "Great win for the stallion, Poet's Word, as well. It is seemingly his first winner in Ireland. He has a great strike record in England. "Ado (McGuinness trainer of Fahari who was a non runner) phoned me at 9.45am and I am only 40 minutes up the road. Whenever you get the chance to run here - it is so competitive and the ballots and everything - you run as long as they are right. "I think more of the same for her and I think we will stick to the mile."
