After taking the third with Dream Of Words Jim Bolger and Kevin Manning completed an 83/1 double with Dawn Hoofer in the Hydrotech Handicap.
Having disappointed on three previous efforts this campaign, the daughter of Dawn Approach went off at 11/1 in the colours of Bolger's wife Jackie, who also owns Dream Of Words.
Sent straight to the front by Manning, the bay victor made all.
She wandered under pressure from the two furlong pole, but ultimately kept on well to register an easy four and a quarter length success. Machiavelli (4/1) finished second under Shane Foley for Johnny Murtagh, while Magic Sea (14/1) was a short head back in third for Conor Hoban and Sarah Dawson. Roses Queen was sent off the well-backed 11/8 favourite (from 2s on-course and from 10/3 in early shows), and she finished a disappointing tenth after being squeezed for room from the furlong pole.
"Kevin decided to ride her differently tonight, take the bull by the horns, and it worked," said Ger Flynn, Bolger's travelling head lad.
"It was a really good enterprising ride and he made every yard a winning post. She has always shown ability. She handled the ground as well."
STEWARDS REPORTS
G.P. Halpin, rider of Jazz Lady trained by Thomas Cooper, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount refused to race when the gates opened.
C.D. Hayes, rider of Roses Queen trained by P.J.Prendergast, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was checked soon after the start and again about one and a half furlongs from the finish.
The Stewards requested a report from J. S. Bolger, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Dawn Hoofer, placed first, as compared with its recent run. Gerard Flynn, Authorised representative of J.S. Bolger reported that the change in riding tactics today whereby the filly was allowed to race prominent compared to her run at Sligo on the 22nd May where she was dropped in to switch off but never picked up the bridle was a contributing factor along with the good underfoot conditions this evening which she appreciated. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the content of the report.
The Stewards informed Thomas Cooper, trainer of Jazz Lady, that his charge could be liable to suspension if she were to repeat her reluctance to race from stalls in the future.
