Hinemoa gained a maiden success on her 13th run today, landing Dundalk's View Restaurant At Dundalk Stadium Handicap (division I) at 25/1 for trainer Mark Cahill and owner/breeder Frank McNulty.

Unplaced on each of her previous 12 starts, the seven year old mare was today ridden to an all-out by jockey Alan Persse, with the pair holding off the faster-finishing Angel In The Sky by a head.

Trainer Cahill reported “Alan (Persse) said she travelled well into the straight but fell apart in front - I'd say she was in front plenty early but she's game.

“We'll try and find something similar now, we might come back for a two-mile race on Friday week.

“She stays well and we always said she wanted a mile-and-a-half plus. We'll see if she gets the two miles.”

He added “the dam was good. This mare always showed us a bit at home but lost her race a few times in the stable yard. She'd get upset, she never did it at home but got upset when she came to the races.

“Since she's come back this time she seems to have settled down. All the family were the same, the dam was a late three-year-old before she did anything. She ended up rated in the 100s.”
