The Gavin Cromwell-trained Money Heist got up on the line to land the spoils in a thrilling finish to the 80-95 handicap hurdle at Galway. Brandy Harbour hit the front two from home in the two-mile-three contest and was pursued down to the final flight by the 5/4 favourite.

Both horses were slightly untidy at the last and Keith Donoghue got a good tune from the well-backed market leader (5/1 this morning) in the closing stages to just nab his rival at the post for a nose success.

The winner was making his handicap debut and the Imperial Monarch gelding had last been seen in action over fences at Clonmel in April.

Cromwell said:- “It didn’t look the strongest of races and it’s nice to get his head in front.

“He’s in again at Downpatrick on Friday so he may go there.”

It was a third winning favourite of the day at Galway.

Robbie Geoghegan got a nine day whip ban for his ride on the runner-up Brandy Harbour.
