Hayes good on Flawless Filly A Ballinrobe scorer before finishing fourth of six at Killarney a couple of days later, Flawless Filly got back to winning ways with an all the way success under Chris Hayes in the 'My Canine Companion (South Tipperary Branch)' Handicap at Clonmel. The hooded daughter of Clodovil had this ten furlong event 'in the bag' in the final quarter mile and she eventually accounted for Laytown third, Little Arrows, by five lengths. Gamble of the event, Calgacus (9s into 7/2) could manage no better than fourth whilst another making a quick turn-around after competing on the strand, Moonbi Creek (5/2 favourite) was a disappointing fifth. Hayes acknowledged: "She should be three from three only for jockey error. I got caught asleep on her at Killarney the last day. "Joseph (O'Brien on Slipper Satin, winner there) went to the front but we only hacked and Paul (Deegan, winning trainer) said not to get caught out on her today." He added: "She's a very straight-forward filly and the hood is just there to get her to relax. Paul has done a great job on her – she used to be a bit hot. "If the handicapper isn't too hard on her she should win again." (TW & EM)
