Hash Brown impressed on his way to winning the Grade 3 O’Briens Wines Novice Hurdle on the bridle at Limerick.
This was his second run for owner JP McManus and he duly followed up on his Listowel novice hurdle victory.
Barry Geraghty didn’t have clear daylight on the son of Vinnie Roe until he switched him out and got a gap that enabled him to track Sang Tiger jumping the second last. He travelled powerfully to lead at the last and after a quick jump there eased home on the bridle by two lengths and justify 1/2 favouritism from Sang Tiger (11/4).
Handler Michael Hourigan said: “It was a poor race I suppose. I actually thought he was in trouble passing the stands. I felt he was niggling him a bit.
“I think he’s a fair horse, but I thought he’d be better today. He’s a horse that doesn’t like to get to the front too soon.
“He has plenty of options now and different ground doesn’t seem to bother him.”
Barry Geraghty added: “He’s a lovely horse and will make a smashing chaser. I was always happy enough. When I got out it was over in two strides.”
