The son of Canford Cliffs kept on strongly from the last under James O’Sullivan to beat Bread And Butter by three lengths with Humm Baby a further five lengths adrift in third.
Gibney said, “I wasn’t fully sure why he hadn’t been running well to be honest. He worked very well since he came to us.
“I’m really delighted to get that for Derek (Kierans, owner) who has been a supporter of mine for about five years and we haven’t had a winner together for a while.
“The ground came right for him and my mare in the previous race. It’s unlikely that we’ll get that again but you never know. I’m not sure where we will go next but it’s great to get that win today.
“Rhythm Divine (second to Buildmeupbuttercup in the previous Listed mares hurdle) ran a blinder. Maybe she was flattered to get so close to the other mare but we’re happy to get another Listed place under her name.”
