Local trainer Brian Hamilton is eyeing a chasing campaign with Talkin Tough after he claimed the opening maiden hurdle at Downpatrick on Friday night.
The Zaffaran gelding was left in front after co-favourite Stomers Cross ran wide at the fourth hurdle and made the best of his way home after that.
Andrew McNamara kicked on before the second last and the seven-year-old stayed on strongly to post a convincing four-and-a-half length success.
"He ran well on his last start but had to have an operation on his back after for kissing spines," said Hamilton
"We decided to give it one last lash this season before the ground changed. That's as quick as he wants it. We'll see how he comes out of this and tred carefully with him.
"His future lies over fences, they way he jumps, and he'll go chasing next season."
