Guaranteed follows in father's hoof-prints Guaranteed followed in the hoof-prints of his father Teofilo, as he just got the better of Mount Tabora in the opener at the Curragh on Oaks day, the Club Godolphin Irish EBF Maiden. Teofilo was successful on debut in this very race in 2006, with his son having his second start, after filling the runner-up berth over the course and distance earlier this month. Having touched 5/1 on-course, the Jim Bolger trained victor eventually went off at 4s, in the colours of Bolger's wife Jackie. Soon in front under Kevin Manning, the bay colt was ridden and joined by the 9/4 favourite Mount Tabora with under two furlongs left to race. The pair had a great battle inside the final furlong, with just a head separating them at the line. The Aidan O'Brien trained runner-up edged left inside the final furlong under Ryan Moore, and that certainly didn't help his cause. Giga White (5/2) was another two and a quarter lengths back in third, with Colin Keane aboard this one for Ger Lyons. "He has a bit of learning to do yet. He was green the last day and was still green today. He's still a work in progress," said Bolger. "He's in the Futurity and that's a possibility. Bold Approach will run in the Tyros next Thursday and we'll be keeping them apart." STEWARDS REPORTS * The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages of this race involving Guaranteed, ridden by K.J. Manning, placed first and Mount Tabora (USA), ridden by R.L. Moore, placed second, where it appeared that the horses made contact . Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judges placings and took no further action. Mr Peter N. Reynolds, Acting Steward, absented himself from this enquiry. * S. Foley, rider of Archaeology (GB) trained by J.P. Murtagh, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was slowly away from stalls and ran very green throughout the race. Additional reporting by Gary Carson
