Sendmylovetorose (9/2) compensated connections for her recent Royal Ascot late withdrawal when maintaining her unbeaten record with a black-type win in the Group 3 Grangecon Stud Stakes at The Curragh today.
Sendmylovetorose, a maiden winner at Navan on her only previous race, was withdrawn having played up in the stalls at Ascot but, ridden by Colm O'Donoghue, was crediting her trainer Andy Oliver with his second Group 3 winner. The win was possibly a career highlight for the Co Tyrone trainer whose rise through the ranks has been quite noticeable in recent years.
Oliver later stated “I'm absolutely delighted with that - Colm took the race by the scruff of the neck and it was very straightforward and everything went to plan.
“She handled the ground but she could go on better ground.
“She went to Ascot last week but didn't get a run – we didn't know if there would be any hang-ups from that but it didn't take anything out of her.
“Sendmylovetorose is owned by John Gildea who isn't able to make it today as his wife is in hospital. She took ill during the week but that will be a great tonic for her and hopefully she'll get better soon.”
