Ground eases throughout the country The current unsettled spell of weather has caused the ground to ease right around the country ahead of a busy schedule of meetings this weekend. The going for today's National Hunt fixture at Cork – seven races beginning at 5.45pm - is now good (good to yielding in places) following 12mm of rain overnight. Gowran Park hosts a seven race Flat card starting at 5.35 this evening, and the ground is currently described as good to firm. However a course spokesman said at 10.15am; “We had very little rain overnight but did have a heavy shower this morning, and the forecast is for further heavy showers with perhaps up to 15mm of rain before racing this evening.” Tipperary holds a Flat card tomorrow and the ground is currently yielding. Sunday's two meetings are at Fairyhouse and Sligo. Fairyhouse is described as good, while Sligo is now soft following 20mm of rain last night. The four-day July meeting at Killarney gets underway on Monday where the ground is currently yielding (good to yielding in places). The forecast for today is for further showers, although Saturday and Sunday are expected to be generally dry. Alan Magee
