Jordans claimed Grade 3 honours on his second start in Ireland, as he just held off Monbeg Park in the BetVictor Novice Chase.

A four time winner in his native France, the Coastal Path five-year-old finished second to stable companion San Salvador on his debut for current connections at Listowel last month.

Supported from 9/2 early into 11/4 favouritism, the Joseph O'Brien-trained victor was close in fourth from three out and came with his challenge on the nearside approaching the next.

Soon left in front, he was steadied into the last and needed to be ridden out on the run-in to hold off the effort of Monbeg Park, with half a length between them at the line.

The runner-up was returned a 9/2 chance (from 7s), with his rider Jordan Gainford losing his left reign close home.

The front pair drew seven and a half lengths clear of Broomfield Bijou (5/1), while the front running Air Drop unseated Sam Ewing two out when still in a share of the lead.

"I thought that he'd go away and win at the second last, but he just pricked his ears a bit in front," winning rider Richie Deegan divulged.

"I was in front a bit soon. He popped the last and it just gave the other horse a chance to come back to us, but I never felt like I was going to be headed.

"He jumped well and will improve again."
