Goldrush (Frankel-Alexander Goldrun) is bred to be special and she looked every bit of it when successful in the Listed Al Basti Equiworld Carlingford Stakes at Dundalk.
The three-year-old won on her debut at Navan 41 days back but this was a different test altogether against battle-hardened and older rivals.
However when she got the gaps Kevin Manning's mount displayed serious talent and a great attitude to get there for a three parts of a length win over Marshall Jennings
"She did it well in Navan and that was a good step up again. I thought she'd stepped forward and I'm very pleased with her," said Manning on the China Horse Club-owned and Jim Bolger-trained Goldrush.
"She's a nice good moving filly. The ground was just a little on the slower side at Navan and she handled it, and she's handled that surface out there tonight fine.
"She's come on from Navan and she'll come on again from tonight. You would be thrilled with that."
W.M. Lordan, rider of De Coronado (USA), trained by A.P.O'Brien, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount clipped heels and stumbled on the first bend.
P.J. Smullen, rider of Jaqen H'Ghar trained by Joseph Patrick O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount got tightened about one furlong from the finish.
The Stewards fined A.P.O'Brien, trainer, €65 for failing to fit a tongue tie to Long Island Sound (USA), prior to entering the parade ring.
The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the latter stages of this race involving Jaqen H'Ghar, ridden by P.J. Smullen, placed fourth, Marshall Jennings, ridden by C. O'Donoghue, placed second, Santa Monica (GB), ridden by W.J. Lee, placed fifth, Spruce Meadows ridden by G.P. Halpin, placed dead heated for sixth and Maudlin Magdalen ridden by R.P. Cleary, unplaced, where it appeared that Jaqen H'Ghar and Spruce Meadows met with interference.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judges placings'.
However, they advised C. O'Donoghue to ride with more care. Mr S. Collins, Acting Steward, absented himself from this enquiry.
The Stewards fined A.P.O'Brien, trainer, €130 for failing to nominate an authorised representative in accordance with the provisions of Rule 147(v).
C.T. Keane, rider of Tennessee Wildcat trained by G.M.Lyons, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that he reacted quickly to avoid any possible trouble when he was tracking De Coronado (USA) which clipped heels on the first bend.
