Adrian Murray's Gold Speed held on by a nose to land the extended two and a half mile handicap hurdle at Punchestown.
The 11/1 chance was clear at the second last but Bread And Butter began to pick up the chase. He had reduced the advantage at the last where bot horses were less than fluent.
The leader was all out in the closing stages as Bread And Butter (16/1) finished well, but there was a nose between the pair at the line. Streets Of Doyen (50/1) ran on very strongly for third, a further length away.
Jockey Sean Flanagan said: “I thought it was very close and he's done everything, unintentionally, in his power to get himself beat.
“He's jumped quite poorly and run quite free, but he's a horse that probably has a high level of ability and that's basically what has got him through.
“If he put everything together he could be quite a good horse but he has to step forward a lot in order to do so.”
