Go Deimhin delivers a 50/1 upset in Cork Training Go Deimhin was “worse than being married to a woman who was nagging you every day” trainer William Hayes quipped after the eight-year-old mare won in Cork at a whopping 50/1. “We had terrible trouble with her. It was an achievement to win a race with her. We had an awful time of it with her. She gave us ladies troubles and scoped dirty in between races and we never had a clear run with her. It was an amount of frustration,” William Hayes added. “The win was down to divine and extreme patience although she did win a point-to-point.” David Splaine brought her with a sustained challenge in the home straight and she stayed on stoutly over the last three obstacles in this two and a half mile mares’ maiden hurdle. She wore down Texas Rose (10/1) and Divine Steps after popping the last and won by two and a quarter lengths from the former. The latter took third at 33/1, beaten a total of two and three parts of a length. Ourbeautifuldream, the well-backed 5/6 favourite, was off the bridle before the home straight in coming in fourth.
