The recent spell of dry weather has proved rather frustrating for connections of smart sprinter Go Athletico. The six-year-old developed into a consistent performer at Listed/Group level since joining Ado McGuinness last season but has been forced to wait to make his reappearance.

Following a win in the Claiming race at Gowran Park on Wednesday, McGuinness was asked when the son of Goken was likely to run: “Whenever some of that water starts falling out of the sky!

“I've made loads of entries for him. He's in Champions Weekend and I'd love to get a run into him before it, but whether I do or not is another thing.

“If the ground is too quick Champions Weekend he might go to France that weekend, there is a Group 3 in Longchamp.

“I have a stack of entries made. We have just been unlucky with him because he hasn't had an ease in the ground, and he just needs a little bit of an ease.

“We'll definitely get water before the year is out, that's for sure. Knowing this country when it does start it won't finish.”
