Barry Geraghty gave punters more cause for cheer when completing a treble at Sligo on The Burrow Vic (7/2 this morning into 15/8 fav) in the Sean Graham Bookmakers Handicap Steeplechase.
Geraghty, earlier successful on Barna Gold and Rubi Light drove out The Burrow Vic from the last to see off the gallant challenge of veteran Galway Legend by a length and a quarter. There was nineteen lengths back to the third placed O'Muircheartaigh whilst the big market-mover for this three miler, Ar Aghaidh Leat (10s into 100/30) ruined his chance with mistakes and he ended up pulling up before two out.
This win represented a nice change of luck for successful trainer Davy Fitzgerald and he said: "He is tough but I was just a bit worried that the ground wasn't soft enough for him. The plan is to go for a two mile six handicap at Galway, Operation Houdini won it for me for a couple of years. Hopefully he'll sneak into that with a nice weight."
Winning owners, the Burrow Syndicate, headed up by Sean Walsh, Chairman of the Munster Council, are from Moyvane in County Kerry.
