Mouse Morris has issued updates on his two leading chasers French Dynamite and Gentlemansgame with the trainer offering a reason for the former’s disappointing recent run at Wetherby on November 2.

French Dynamite bagged a seventh success when landing the Betvictor Grade 3 Chase at Punchestown in October but subsequently disappointed when trailing the field in the Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby earlier this month.

The nine-year-old finished last of the six runners then, but Morris now reports “French Dynamite came home with a very nasty cut from Wetherby which would explain why he didn’t run up to scratch. He had came good at Punchestown but is having a bit of a break at the moment so it will be after Christmas before he runs again.”

Regarding Gentlemansgame, which won that aforementioned Charlie Hall Chase in 2023 before a finishing five-lengths fourth to Fastorslow in the Punchestown Gold Cup in May, he added “Gentlemansgame is on the way back and will run at Christmas in Leopardstown hopefully.

“I had him in the Betfair Chase but he just wasn’t ready enough.

“There are very few races he can run in with his rating.”
