Genesta gets deserved win to her name Genesta got a deserved win to her name as she took the Probably The Best Family Fun Day Ever Mares Maiden Hurdle, under Danny Mullins for his mother Mags. Placed on her last three starts at Punchestown, Tramore and Gowran respectively, the seven-year-old daughter of Generous was sent off the 10/11 favourite this afternoon (was 11/8 last night and touched evens on-course). Settled in second, she got to the front after four out as the leader Lucy Mc was impeded by two riderless horses. Lucy Mc regained the lead after the next, and she was challenged by the winner at the last. Genesta was soon ridden to the front, and she kept on well on the run-in, going on to score by three and a quarter lengths. The aforementioned Lucy Mc had to settle for second at 10/1 under Keith Donoghue for Gordon Elliott, while Aurora's Dream (14/1) was twelve lengths back in third under Mark Flanagan for Ger Keane. Mags Mullins said afterwards: "She has been close so long and she deserved it. I'm delighted as Gerard (Mullins, owner) gets the bonus. Gerard lives beside me so it's great to have a winner for him. "We'll see what she can win from here on. We'll keep her going. She could go up in trip. He'll probably go breeding next year with her. She has a win in front of her now." In relation to Galway Mullins added: "We'll see how she comes out of this. She's a six-year-old, she can race on away." Additional reporting by Michael Graham
