Game Changer back to winning ways The Game Changer returned to winning ways over fences when running out a convincing victor of the Hollymount Nursing Home Chase at Ballinrobe. Davy Russell tracked the leaders on the Gigginstown gelding in the two-mile one-furlong contest before hitting the front two from home on the 5/2 shot. The Gordon Elliott-trained gelding looked in control from there and kept on well in the closing stages to post a two-and-a-quarter length verdict over Ted Veale. The winner had finished second to that rival over hurdles at Sligo last time. 6/4 favourite Don't Touch It didn't jump with much fluency and faded in the closing stages to finish fourth. The Game Changer was recording his first win since October 2015 and had struggled in good company last season. "it was a lovely opportunity and he took it well. He had a good run the last day and he was building on that and has been a very god servant down through the years,” said Russell. "I enjoy riding him and while he used to be a little bit braver at his fences, has now gone a bit clever. "The ground is gorgeous and they've done a great job with it." (Quotes by Thomas Weekes)
