The Andy Oliver trained and owned All Set To Go landed a gamble in the opener at Roscommon this evening, the Irish Stallion Farms EBF 2yo Maiden.

Having opened at 16/1 with Paddy Power this morning, the grey son of Verglas was available at just 6/1 on-course, going off at that price under Gary Carroll.

Drawn in stall one, he made all, kicking for home around two furlongs out, stretching clear with over a furlong left to race, staying on well from there to score easily by five lengths. Wateed who was backed from 3/1 to 7/4 on-course, finished back in second under Pat Smullen for Dermot Weld, while Lungarno Palace who drifted from 4/5 to 5/4 favourite trackside, was a head back in third for Aidan and Joseph O’Brien.

The winner was making his third start this evening, and having finished just over five lengths fifth to Sir John Hawkins on his debut at the Curragh in May (had subsequent winners Muscle Beach and Billboard behind him), he finished last of four to Stubbs a couple of days later in a Listed contest at Naas.

His first two runs came over six furlongs, and he was stepped up to seven today.

Andy Oliver said afterwards: "Gary gave him a good ride and he had the benefit of a good draw.

"He is a very straight forward horse. I thought a bit of him earlier in the year. He ran well in a maiden but we probably went a bit too quick for a Listed race.

"We gave him some time and the extra furlong suited. I’d say there is plenty of improvement and progress in him, only time will tell how good a race this is, but Gary said he had plenty of horse under him."

All Set To Go was purchased by Oliver at Goffs last October for €34,000,
