After a win for a County Galway-trained horse in the second, Iggy Madden's Cairdiuil much like at Croke Park yesterday, County Kilkenny struck back in the third, the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Median Auction Fillies Maiden when Dick Donohoe's Wholelotofrosie prevailed under Ben Curtis.
The victorious daughter of Choisir, having just her second outing for Gowran-handler, Donohoe, made all and determinedly kept going inside the last to hold off the favourite, Cocktail Hour by a head.
Donohoe said: "She's as game as a pebble and she deserved that after Bellewstown where she ran a cracker (when 2nd). She handles the soft ground well."
Wholelotofrosie is owned by the Backkitchen Syndicate, many of them from Kilkenny.
A steward's enquiry was called late into slight interference in the final furlong but it was no surprise when the judge's placings were allowed to stand.
The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the straight involving the winner, Wholelotofrosie ridden by B.A.Curtis, and Cocktail Hour, ridden by P.J Smullen, placed, second.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed the video of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the judges placings and took no further action.
