Galileos Daughter did her father proud when getting her first victory in Down Royal’s extended one mile two furlong maiden for trainer John Bleahen and jockey Declan McDonogh.
The four-year-old battled gamely to hold off 13/8 favourite Fountain Of Honour by half a length. She was returned at 7/1 having been nibbled at an opening show of 8/1.
Trainer Bleahen was delighted with the victory. He said: “She did it the hard way.
“I was waiting for Galway, but she was bouncing and in good form so I came here.
“With her breeding I will try and get black type with her.
“She’s a gross filly even though she stripped tight tonight and will improve for that.
“It was a competitive maiden. I only have two flat horses in training.
“The owner Eilish O’Reilly is from Dublin. It’s a pity she couldn’t make it as she is a gorgeous looking woman who would have taken a great photo!
“This is her first horse and first winner.” Comedic Art was a head behind Fountain Of Honour in third for Dermot Weld at 13/2.
