GODOLPHIN RECORD CENTURY AT TOP LEVEL

Godolphin gained their 100th Group 1 victory in controversial circumstances last night when Sulamani was awarded the Arlington Million following a stewards enquiry.

The former Barry Hills-trained Storming Home was first past the post but subsequently placed fourth after a bizarre incident close to the line where he ´spooked badly´ and unseated rider Gary Stevens just after the line.

Sulamani finished strongly under David Flores to be beaten a head, with Paolini and Kaieteur dead-heating for third place. The dead-heaters were interfered with in the incident, and so Storming Home was placed behind them to the boos of Arlington racegoers.

Stevens was taken from the track by stretcher with shoulder pain although he was fully conscious.

Kickin Kris caused a 15/1 upset in the Secretariat Stakes, with France the best placed of the Irish challenge weakening in the straight to finish fourth. Evolving Tactics was sixth under Pat Smullen.
