Leading fancy Regal Rose will miss the Sagitta 1000 Guineas at Newmarket a week on Sunday, Sir Michael Stoute said today.
The unbeaten three-year-old was 6-1 third favourite with the Tote.
In a statement to PA Sport this morning, Stoute said: 'Regal Rose is lame on her near hind leg and will not participate in the 1000 Guineas.'
But the trainer still has a strong hand in the 1000 Guineas. His stable houses Prix Marcel Boussac runner-up Karasta, 4-1 joint favourite for the race with the Tote, and Lowther Stakes winner Enthused (11-1).
Regal Rose has been a major contender for the first fillies` Classic ever since she won the Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket on the second of just two starts as a juvenile last year.
Though unsuitably soft ground meant she missed the trials this spring, she had been reckoned to be on course for the Guineas.
