Foley follows Carroll in registering Sligo treble Shane Foley was the second jockey at Sligo today to register a treble as he followed Gary Carroll's earlier feat when winning the concluding Diageo Day 8th August Handicap on Pearl Warrior. Carroll steered two winners for Mick Mulvany and one for Joe Murphy before Foley completed the same feat with Jessica Harrington's For The Trees in the maiden, Willie McCreery's Elite Trooper Grey in the half-hour earlier race and on Johnny Murtagh's Pearl Warrior in the finale. Pearl Warrior was gaining an overdue win and afterwards trainer Murtagh said “the horses are all running well, there is no bad luck, they are just meeting better ones on the day. “Running second then you are going up in the handicap all the time and then the fourth beats you the next time so you finish second again! “They are all going well. I'm delighted for Paddy (Woods, owner). He rode him in the charity race himself and said that he travelled great in the race and would we not try him at a mile-and-a-quarter. “It was a nice race here for him and suited him well. He's a work in progress this lad, I think he'll improve as he gets older and he's by Dunaden so he should stay well. He's a late developing type. “We're delighted. I'm sure the handicapper will have his say now but I'm just glad he's won for Paddy. “He rides him in those charity races and it will set him up nicely. There will be no excuses the next time in Cork!” Quotes from Gary Carson
