Pat Flynn gained a measure of compensation following the earlier ‘loss’ of his Hes Our Music in a Claimer when his Twistsandturns completed a double for the trainer and jockey Pat Smullen in division one of the Crowne Plaza Hotel Race & Stay Handicap at Dundalk today.
Flynn’s eight-time course winner Hes Our Music was earlier claimed for E14,000 following his latest win, under Smullen, in the opening Claimer. Flynn does now have a replacement, of sorts, in Twistsandturns who himself registered a fourth win at the venue and his fifth in total, albeit at a lower level than Hes Our Music.
Smullen later said “they went a good pace upfront. He’s been running over seven furlongs so his stamina was always going to come into play over the last furlong.
“He travelled well, had a good position and his stamina in the last furlong really counted and he got to the line well.
“He’s been running very consistently and deserved that. I think the way the race unfolded worked out perfect for him.”
