Flynn opens account with Rocky Pat Flynn had to wait until the final session of the four-day Tramore Festival meeting before entering the winners’ enclosure as Gusty Rocky justified favouritism in the Family Fun Afternoon At Tramore Races Maiden Hurdle. The King’s Theatre gelding was sent off the 10/11 market leader on the back of a promising effort at Galway last month, and he duly delivered the goods. Davy Russell made his move approaching the penultimate flight, and swept past the front-running Marty’s Magic. Landau gave chase approaching the last but despite staying on well never looked likely to really trouble the ‘jolly’. Gusty Rocky had a length to spare at the line, with Marty’s Magic another three and a half lengths back in third as very few of the remainder of the 12-runner field got involved. Flynn said "I didn't think I'd have many winners at Tramore this week. I knew coming into the week that I hadn't have the ammunition, I didn't have the type of horses for the races. “This fellow was our banker and Davy said he won it very well. He will go down the novice route now and he a lovely horse. “I wouldn't say he is a deep winter horse but he will probably get a rest for the winter anyway. He might go to Listowel for a winners of one." (AM & DM)
